Peter Parker would tell you that with great power comes great responsibility because his Uncle Ben taught him that – even without learning that his nephew was Spiderman.
Sure, you can end up with great responsibility. But wheew, those electricity bills will get you every time, too.
Plato was quoted as saying that “The measure of a man is what he does with power.”
Are we talking about the power of electricity or the ego? Actually, all of the above. There are all sorts of power struggles, and it’s important to know what to do with it all.
Get ready. This is pretty deep for someone who usually dishes on barndominiums.
What Do You Do with Power?
If you plant a light bulb in your garden, does it grow into a power plant? Sorry, I couldn’t resist making a joke to lighten the mood.
Really, though, let’s talk about power.
We have it in our everyday lives whether we realize it or not.
Of course, we have power in our homes. It’s what allows us to flip on a light to walk into a room, be able to brew a cup of coffee, and watch our favorite shows on TV.
For Watt It’s Worth, These Electricity Jokes Are Shockingly Funny
That’s the kind of power you have to manage so you don’t end up with high electricity bills.
But what about the other kind of power?
You have the power to make decisions that affect your life. Without even knowing it, you make countless decisions every day. You turn left instead of right. You choose one restaurant for lunch over another. And you choose who you talk to and what you say.
All of those decisions can have big consequences when you really think about them. One bad decision can cause us to be late for work, end up with food poisoning, or give us a headache. What we say and what we do can affect our personal lives, our careers, and more.
And then there’s the power that some people like to hold over others. Bosses tend to think that they hold the power of your lives in their hands. And landlords think they hold power over your living situation.
It’s false power, though. They use the power as a way to control you. It’s possible to take back that power at any time – as long as you choose to make the right decisions.
There Are Power Struggles Everywhere
Have you noticed that there seems to be more power struggles than ever?
Just ask anyone in California with their blackouts and flickering lights. They’re dealing with a unique power struggle, but that’s not really what we’re talking about.
If you tune into any of what is going on in DC, you’ll hear that the electricity grids around the nation are being overwhelmed. So, there’s a power struggle with the desire to go with more sustainable options like solar and wind.
There’s something to be said about these solutions. When you want great power and you don’t want great electricity bills, you can make a few investments. If you have some land with a pole barn on it, go ahead and explore a wind turbine or some solar panels. They can produce all the power you need without having to spend a fortune on it.
And if you’re dealing with a power struggle in other areas of your life, see what you can do to take control of the situation. Realistically, we’ve been dealing with these since we were a kid. It’s natural to fight for power with our parents. We want more than what they want to give.
The same can be true at work. Is your boss on a power trip? Those are always fun to deal with. Not really, but since you may not be able to simply resign, you have to figure out how to survive in a toxic workplace. It comes down to effective communication so that you don’t end up in a shouting match with your boss (a sure way to get fired, by the way).
Power is everywhere, and it comes in many shapes and sizes. How you deal with it can define your life and your happiness.
Take Back the Power (in Real Estate)
We’re not mental health counselors and we’re certainly not experts when it comes to working in a toxic environment. We love what we do, but that’s because we spend all of our time in Sherman Country.
What we can do is show you how to take back the power when it comes to your living situation.
Do you feel as though you’re spending a fortune on electric bills because you don’t have room for solar panels?
Do you feel as though your landlord is raising the rent because you’re powerless to do anything about it?
There are so many ways that you may be letting power slip through your fingers.
The solution is to start exploring barndominiums.
I can’t afford to pay for electricity anymore; these are some dark times.
It’s your chance to take back the power, at least in regard to real estate (and even your power grid). It starts with a pole barn that is customized to meet your every need.
If you haven’t heard of a barndominium, let us introduce you to what they are. They are steel buildings that can be created with a variety of facades. They’re affordable, they’re fast to build, and they provide you with a significant amount of control in comparison to what other builders have to offer.
At Sherman Pole Buildings, we allow you to have as much power as you want. We’ll allow you to take the DIY approach with all of the interior elements or we can install them for you. This includes everything from flooring to kitchen fixtures.
It’s possible to achieve plenty of natural lighting, open spaces, and so much more. The square footage and the functionality of the space are entirely up to you.
Let’s help you lower those electric bills and gain some power, shall we? One step into Sherman Country and you’ll never want to leave.
