Often, it comes down to listing your goals and determining how you’re going to achieve them. Want to make your wishes come true? Follow these basic steps:
- Write your goals down.
- Make your goals visible.
- Break the goals down.
- Develop a plan.
- Take action.
- Don’t lose focus.
- Prepare to overcome obstacles.
- Hold yourself accountable.
Just like that, you can start to make your dreams come true. And who knows, you may even feel as though you can grant yourself another wish once the first one has been taken care of.

There’s one problem with the idea of genies and wish-granting. The wording is everything. We’ve seen countless movies where the hero thought he knew what he wanted. However, awkward phrasing meant that the person was left with really weird things.
Person: I want to be rich.
Genie: Granted. What’s your next wish, Rich?
Person: Doh!
See how that works? It’s best to be very cautious about what you want. Be specific with what you wish for so that you’re actually happy when it comes true.
Wishes won’t wash dishes.
The world is full of genies waiting to grant your wishes. Okay, not really. However, there are plenty of ways to make sure your wishes are granted. It comes down to knowing what you want and being willing to ask.
You’re not going to be given three wishes. Instead, you’ve got unlimited wishes. Dream big, and don’t let some outdated idea tell you that you have to limit yourself.
Since there’s no genie to ask, there are others to ask. Ask yourself what you are capable of. Check with your boss to see what you can do to advance yourself. Talk with your friends and ask them to support you and your dreams. Apply with the government for a small business loan.
There’s no limit to the things that you can do with your life. Once you’ve achieved one goal, move on to the next. Ask some of the happiest and most successful people how many goals they have accomplished. They will tell you that it is impossible to count. They’re not depending on only three wishes. They’ve abandoned the idea of finding a genie lamp. Instead, they’re actively granting their own wishes.
SMART goals are everything. When you follow a simple formula of Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound goal-setting, you can achieve everything you’ve ever dreamed of.
