The Good Life

I’m a drifter…I’m a wanderer, but I’m grounded. Yes, I am always in search of the good life. Having lived all across the country, I’ve explored what every state has to offer. I’ve enjoyed the finest cheeses of Wisconsin, the tastiest BBQ in Texas, and the incredible lakes of Minnesota.

Life is a book; make the book thick.

Life is all about the adventures that we go on, the memories that we create, and the people we meet along the way. The only way to make the most of it is to explore and put ourselves out there. Sometimes it works out. Sometimes it doesn’t.

Make a Wish, Take a Chance

What do you wish out of your life? I’ve made wishes and taken chances in the hopes that I can get them to come true. While I’ve had some misses, I’ve also hit some of the wishes out of the park.

Texas is one of my favorite parts of the south. There’s always the smell of brisket wafting through the air. A local brewery is always within a stone’s throw. And, in the summer, there’s always a river calling my name.

I’ve wished to lead a simple life. I’ve taken chances by going into business for myself. It allows me to take breaks just to catch my breath and slow things down. I happen to do some of my most creative thinking with a Texas brew in my hand as I float a few miles down the Comal River. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend it.

Wish for the Life You Want to Have

Now, Minnesota is a bit different. It’s my style of living. Try to stay out of the bustling cities as much as possible … that’s not the kind of life that I like to lead. You can join me driving my Jeep around Minnesota with a fishing pole in hopes of finding a lake or a river to cast into. I’ve been known to pull over at random just to fish. If I am lucky, I’ll catch a Walleye. Then, I’ll have the pleasure of spending some time on the grill later that night.

Wisconsin is another state where I can feel quite at home. There’s plenty of outdoor fun to be had, especially during the winter. After a good snowstorm, there’s a smell of tranquility and peace in the air. That’s when I grab some backpacking gear and head for a hiking trail. I love to be the first one to make the tracks in the snow. Sometimes, I’ll make a few tracks, especially if I decide to fire up my snowmobile.

Wish for the life you want to have. When you have a feeling that something will make you happy, chase after it. Life is too short to live with regrets. If you chase and fail, at least you tried. However, if you chase and succeed, you are now living a better life.

The Privilege of a Lifetime is Being Who You Are

Who are you? It can be a hard question to answer. If you don’t know who you are, you might be living a life that really isn’t meant for you. The privilege of a lifetime is getting the chance to be who you really are.

I took a vacation and focused on doing what I wanted to do the entire time. I got out of my comfort zone. The people I talked with and listened to told me about their lives and what they did for a living. I listened to whether they were happy or not.

Good times

Then, I met a wanderer. He drifted from city to city and didn’t have an office. Instead, the world was his office. He said he was living the good life, and I instantly believed him.

I wanted to be who I was. I didn’t want to pretend anymore. So, I quit sales. I opened a business where I got to let my creative streak shine on a daily basis. I don’t feel like I work anymore. I’m rewarded by my successes daily. I’m living a better life because I am being true to myself instead of masquerading around as someone I’m not just to conform with society.

Stay real

Embrace the Good Life

You have to embrace the good life with both hands. Think about what brings you the greatest amount of joy. Is it playing in the mud? Spending all day floating down the river? Partying with friends?

The moment you have free time, what is it that you yearn to do? That is your passion. It is part of what defines who you are and what it will take to live the better life.

A pole barn allows you to live that better life because it can help you to store your toys.

You work hard. Why not play hard, too? It will make it that much easier to get you to the finish line on a weekly basis.

From boats to fishing poles to hiking gear, your pole barn can store it all for you. It can serve as a reminder of where your hopes and dreams live. When you are feeling stressed, you can take a walk to the barn where your happy place resides.

At Sherman Pole Buildings, we’re raising the standards on steel buildings. You can’t live the good life with a mediocre barn. So, let us build a good barn to go along with your lifestyle. We’ll personalize the details so that it fits everything that puts a smile on your face. And it’s not just for storage, either. If you’ve been dreaming of a place to go and escape the confines of your home, we’ll turn your pole barn into a hunting shed, a man cave, or anything else that you can think of.
