Build An Empire

We’re building so much more than a life together. We’ve said our vows and we’ve built our house. Now, we’re building an empire. We’ve gone from Texas to Minnesota and back again. You’d say we’ve seen it all. We know what we want, and we’re going to do it together.

As Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is a beginning. Staying together is progress. Working together is success.” Well, we’ve done quite a few DIY projects since deciding we were going to turn this into our dream home. We haven’t killed each other yet, so we might be more successful as a couple than we once thought.

Hand Good People Possibilities and They Do Great Things

We’ve had possibilities from the moment we met. There was the way that we locked eyes across campus, the spark of our chemistry, and how our parents were supportive of our engagement. We knew we had something special from day one. It made it easier to build the life we always wanted.

The possibilities continued. We bought a house that went on the market in our hometown. We were able to start our own business and watch it thrive. Every good possibility that occurred allowed us to pursue our dreams. Everything was a green light to show us we were moving in the right direction. Had we not been together, it probably wouldn’t have been like this. We are good people.

You know, we’re not bashful enough to say that we have done great things. We’ve volunteered, given back to the community, and done our fair share of good deeds. The universe has rewarded us, but it’s never been easy. Together we’ve worked to get to where we are, and every extra hour in the office and every bead of sweat has been worth it.

Let’s Build Bookshelves Together and Fill Them with Our Story

Our story is our own. It’s filled with tears and laughter and love. We wanted to build a life and a home because we were inspired to do so. In the difficulties, we lift each other up and become an unstoppable force when we’re together. We’ve told our stories to others and inspired them to take on DIY projects.

We’ve built bookshelves throughout our home to fill with our story. Each bookshelf tells a different story. You’ll see souvenir shot glasses from where we have visited. There are photos of our adventures. We have journals of our woes. It all tells a story to show how far we have come, and how we accompany each other through this crazy thing we call life.

Our stories remind us of our struggles and our successes. We have the stories of how we’ve lived our lives, with many of the toys from our adventures still sitting in our pole barn. When the stories are only partially told, we only need to go out to the barn to spark our memories of what we’ve started, what we’ve completed, and what we’re still in the middle of working on.

We May Not Have It All Together, But Together We Have It All

At first glance, we’re chaotic. We’re the couple running to catch the plane. You probably have seen us running out the front door with shoes still in our hands. We’re also the ones with piles of receipts that we’ll get logged into our checkbook “one of these days.”

We’ve gotten lost on the trails, even dropped our lunch in the middle of the lake. We’ve lost our entire fishing rods at the river. Some think we’ve torn apart more of our home than we’ve fixed. But, it’s our life. It’s our adventures. It’s our empire. Through hard work, determination, and love, we’ve built an empire, and it’s quite extraordinary.

We may not have it all together, but together, we have it all. It doesn’t matter that we’re not all together. No one ever will be. What we do have is each other. We make each other whole, and that’s all that really matters in this world. We made our minds up a long time ago to go through life together, and we’re both better off for it.

Neither of us wants to be cold and lonely on our own. We’ll take our chances to discover the world together, even if it means being a little chaotic on a regular basis. Bob Seger’s “You’ll Accomp’ny Me” has become our theme song, and when the gypsy wind blows warm in the night, we’re reminded that we’re accompanying each other through every step of life.

Together is Our Favorite Place to Be

Our friends and neighbors go to various distant places. They talk about cruises through the South of France and taking safaris through the plains of Africa. We’re happy spending time in Minnesota, Texas, or wherever we’re calling home at the moment. It’s not that we’re simple people. It’s that we’re together.

We can be together riding our ATVs. We can be together by building another bookcase or together out on the water in our boat. As long as we’re together, we’re happy. It’s how we’re able to take on the world and be the best versions of ourselves.

Build Empire

If the rest of the world wants to travel the world to find happiness, let them. We have our Sherman Pole Building housing all of our favorite toys. We have worked hard to build empire after empire. And through each empire, our pole barn has been one of our constants. It’s there to hold our DIY tools, the bookcases we have yet to put together, and our ATVs, our boats, and everything else we use when we want to have adventures together. Our lives have been intertwined for years, allowing us to be happy and to accomplish something in the world.

Thanks to Sherman Pole Buildings, we’ve been able to keep everything special in our lives safe. It has provided us with the room to work, the room to store our toys, and the room we need to do great things.
