Believe That You Can Walk On Water

Every challenge that you are met with in life requires you to take action, to walk on water. You can fight or you can walk away. You always have a choice.

Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.”

Essentially, it’s all mind over matter. Does that mean that you can walk on water? Maybe. You have to believe that you can do it before you even attempt it.

Now, we know what you’re thinking. Who can really walk on water? We’re not saying you won’t get wet. However, it can be done. It just requires some knowledge of science. Well, that and quite a bit of trial and error.

Times are changing. The world is not what it used to be. Turn on the news. Listen to a podcast. Look around your city.

There’s civil unrest, political overreach, and a slew of other problems. You can choose to sit back and do nothing about it all while you complain. However, complaining will do nothing to change the situation. You have to take action. And action is only effective if you believe in yourself.

The Underdog Can Still Win the Fight

Did you know that most people consider themselves to be the underdog? They assume that because they have little status in society, they can’t make a difference.

There are countless examples of the underdog coming out on top. Many athletes have been the underdog because they believed that they could walk on water. They believed in themselves, even when no one else did.  Hour after hour, they spent on the practice field. They spent their nights and weekends in the gym. When everyone else called it a day, they were still working on their skills.

At first they ask why you are doing it, later they will ask how you did it.

And many politicians have won political battles even when there was another person in the running with more experience. They campaigned hard; even went door to door. They hired an amazing team. And they proved that they believed in the platform that they were standing on.

All it takes is a dream and a desire to win.

Believe in yourself

Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams. If you always sit around and think about the problems that are standing in your way, you’ll never get anywhere. Dream big. Then, go out into the world to make those dreams come true.

You just can’t beat the person who never gives up.

Once you prove yourself to be the underdog and you come out on top, people will ask how you did it. Remember these people. They are the same ones who wanted to know why you bothered to try at all when you knew that you weren’t the smartest, the strongest, or even the most popular.

The naysayers will end up being in awe of you. They’ll see you as an example. You can be responsible for helping others to attempt what they once thought couldn’t be done.

Determination can be powerful. If you have the strength and determination to win, you will. Even if you don’t win right away, stay determined. Eventually, you will have your day and come out on top. That’s when you can hold onto that feeling of victory. It will serve as a powerful motivator as you move forward.

Be the Change You Want to See

What irks you more than anything else in the world? Is it that your HOA doesn’t follow the rules? Run for the HOA board. Is it that your child’s school is pushing an unacceptable curriculum? Run for the school board. Is it that your city is too controlling over the pandemic? Run for city council.

Of course, you don’t have to run for public office. There are plenty of ways that you can lead change.

Start a petition. Write to your state senator. Create a blog. Volunteer with an organization.

Start with a conversation. Talk about the problem. Discuss it openly. You may be surprised to find that you’re not alone. Times are changing. Everyone knows it. The question is whether you are going to be a part of the change or not.

If times change without you being a part of it, you can’t complain when you don’t like the changes.

As you drive through Sherman Country, you can see people who are changing the world for the better. People in Texas are taking a stand for what they believe in. Residents of Minnesota are outspoken about their desire to have a police presence. And the folks of Wisconsin demand honesty and integrity within their leadership.

It doesn’t take brains, brawn, or popularity to be the change. It takes determination to make a change. Remember, nothing changes if nothing changes. You are what you believe yourself to be. So be the change maker. Be the person who can walk on water.
