You’re either a dog person or a cat person. It’s very rare that a person counts themselves as both. We’re not going to take sides on this debate. However, it has been said that dogs have masters while cats have staff. All you have to do is watch how human owners interact with their pets to know this is true.
Dogs will listen to the commands they are given. Cats strut around the home as if they own everything in it, and they’re not going to listen to commands like “Get off the couch” or “Don’t push that glass off the counter.” If cats had middle fingers, they’d be using it at their owners constantly.
A dog generally thinks, “Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me … you know what, they must be Gods!”
Meanwhile, a cat always thinks, “Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me … you know what, I must be a God!
Dogs Eat, Cats Dine, and Humans, Well…
Dogs are the least picky eaters ever. They’ll eat kibble, wet food, bones, socks, and anything else they may find randomly around the house. Cats are a bit more refined. Those cat food commercials are proof of that with the fancy crystal dishes. If a cat doesn’t like what it’s being served, it simply won’t eat.
As for humans, we have our picky moments. For me, I’m quite picky about my burgers. I’m not going to eat just any paper-wrapped fast food burger. There needs to be a toasted sesame bun, fresh lettuce and tomato, and a juicy patty.
Did you hear about the cat who swallowed a ball of wool? She had mittens.
But there are other things I’m not too picky about. Literally any cookie or cupcake will do just fine. Seriously, don’t even tempt me. Store bought or homemade, those sweets are going into my mouth.
It’s not just about food, either. We all have our moments when we’re picky.
I suggest that everyone is picky about the pole barns they invest in. Sure, there are DIY kits out there, but that’s like ordering a fast food burger when you really want a steak. It’ll feed you, but it’s not really going to impress you.
At Sherman, we know how to take good care of our clients. We offer a custom process to ensure you get exactly what you want without having to simply accept what is being offered. Think of it as a build-your-own burger. There’s no way you can go wrong with that.
Who’s High on What?
Mary Bly once said, “Dogs are high on life. Cats need catnip.”
That’s why it’s so important to choose the right property when you have pets. Cats don’t need a lot in order to be content. Get them a climbing tree and some catnip, and they’ll be able to entertain themselves for hours. They do not want or need you to take care of them.
Dogs, however, need space. In Sherman Country, you can get a big backyard for them to run around in. And if you have a frisbee or tennis ball that you’re willing to toss around with them out there, even better.
While a dog is high on life and cats get high on catnip, we get high on something else. Quality erections.
I went to the Zoo. They only had one small dog. It was a Shih-Tzu.
Man, there’s nothing better than breathing in the air of a gorgeous Sherman pole barn, especially after it has been newly erected. That blank space can be the ultimate high. With a bit of creativity, it can become a garage for all of your mechanical toys, or, if you have a cat, it can be their jungle gym.
As long as you toss a dog bed in the corner, your dog would be happy with any indoor space you provide.
We prefer recliners.
That reminds me of a quote from Alfred North Whitehead: “If a dog jumps in your lap, it is because he is fond of you. If a cat does the same thing, it is because your lap is warmer.”
And if you have pets like mine, they’ll jump on your recliner and kick you off. It’s a race to the seating in my house on a daily basis. More often than not, the pets win.
Who’s in Charge, Anyway?
While dogs don’t care if they’re in charge and cats assume they are, it really comes down to knowing who makes the calls – and making sure that you’re the dominant one in the house.
You can’t let a dog or cat push you around, can you?
“Heads of warring nations could learn a lot about how to achieve lasting peace by watching dogs and cats who live in the same house.” – Blaize Clement
Often, it comes down to compromise.
That’s why we are in the business of helping you with compromising. You don’t want to sell your home but you also need more space. We have you covered. At Sherman, we can build you the garage you need for more storage. We can build you a barndo behind your house that can be your man cave, your mother-in-law quarters, or the space your college teen so desperately needs.
Everyone is different in terms of the space they need. It’s just like how everyone’s different in terms of the pets they keep.
What is the same is your desire to establish harmony. A dog will typically end up seeing things the way that a cat does in order to keep the peace. And once you realize that our quality erections will give you more space around your property in Sherman Country, you’ll be happier.
So, whether you have a lazy dog, a bossy cat, or simply need more space to keep the peace around your household, we’re here to help you. Give us a call so we can talk more about your barndo needs.
